Formerly known as the Santa Clara Motel, The Boardwalk Hotel is steps from the sands of Mission Beach and the tranquility of Mission Bay, promising an unforgettable experience on San Diego’s coastline.

“We are excited to introduce The Boardwalk Hotel as the new hospitality experience in Mission Beach,” said Daniel Kalenov, co-developer of The Boardwalk Hotel. “Our goal was to create a space that captures the essence of coastal living while providing unparalleled comfort and style.”

Kalenov added: “Mission Beach has been an iconic destination in San Diego for over a century, but it’s never had an iconic place to stay. Now it does.”
The 18 uniquely appointed rooms create an intimate atmosphere, each boasting a “boutique beach” experience. Guests can choose from stylish boho bungalows or lavish two-bedroom suites with ocean views and private rooftop decks. The hotel prioritizes relaxation and rejuvenation, whether it’s soaking in a personal hot tub on a private patio or unwinding in a spa-inspired bathroom.

Thoughtful, functional design sets the hotel apart with smart TVs, high-speed Wi-Fi, and stylish kitchenettes, all wrapped in a coastal-inspired aesthetic. The hotel’s crown jewel, a large common area patio with fire pits, seating, and shade, allows guests to soak up the sun with people-watching opportunities.
Situated between the Pacific Ocean and Mission Bay, the hotel offers access to a coastal playground. Explore the thrills of Belmont Park’s Giant Dipper roller coaster, try watersports like surfing or paddleboarding, or stroll along the sandy shores. A vibrant nightlife and diverse dining options ensure something for everyone, all within walking distance.

The hotel caters to more than just solo travelers. Group reservations are welcome, making it a location for weddings, corporate retreats, or family reunions.

As part of its phase two of opening, the hotel announced plans for a new, privately-owned “Baja cantina-style” restaurant slated for late 2024. This addition will give guests more opportunities to savor the coastal cuisines located within the property.
