College-Rolando Library can make doing taxes less taxing

It’s tax time and AARP volunteers are here to help.

This year, once again, the widely known free AARP Tax-Aide program will be available at the College-Rolando Library (6600 Montezuma Road).

The program is open to anyone, with priority given to low and middle-income taxpayers and those persons aged 50 and over. The volunteer tax preparers have been trained and are certified by the IRS.

Tax preparation assistance at The College-Rolando Library will continue through April 10. Returns will be processed during the following hours on a first come, first served basis:

Tuesdays (11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Thursdays (9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

In order to insure that your returns can be properly completed, please bring (1) proof of identification (CA driver’s license) for each person whose taxes are being prepared; (2) social security cards for you, your spouse, and all dependents; (3) your last year’s tax return; (4) checkbook (if you would like to have any return direct deposited or any amounts due direct debited); (5) and all support documents to file your 2024 taxes. Reviewing your return from last year will give you clues to the information needed for filing this year’s returns.

If you are married, filing jointly, you and your spouse must both be present when having returns prepared. If both spouses are not present, volunteers will be unable to assist with your returns.

Don’t wait until the last moment.

The staff there can help you identify any additional documents you may need to complete the process.
