Activision confirmed that Verdansk would return to Call of Duty: Warzone sometime in the spring of 2025, and while we don’t have an official date yet, new leaks suggest Verdansk is arriving with the launch of Season 3. There are a lot of reasons why Verdansk is a very nostalgic map, but it’s also the birthplace of Warzone’s first weapon metas. As we eagerly await the return of Verdansk, this seems like the perfect opportunity to highlight popular weapons that we’d love to see come back with the iconic map.
Verdansk launched with Warzone during Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 and lasted through the entirety of Black Ops Cold War. There were tons of weapons to choose from across both games, but there were a few powerful guns that stood out as clear favorites. While they aren’t ranked in any specific order, you can find our list below of the 10 best guns to return with Verdansk.

Grau 5.56
Introduced in Modern Warfare 2019, the Grau 5.56 was one of the most beloved assault rifles in Warzone 1. The Grau 5.56 was a reliable assault rifle with such minimal recoil that it felt like a laser beam. Not only was it an easy-to-use weapon, but the gun had really clean iron sights, so you didn’t always have to waste one of your attachment picks on an optic.
Kilo 141
Introduced in Modern Warfare 2019, the Kilo 141 served as one of the top picks for assault rifles to use on Verdansk. This was one of the most well-rounded assault rifles in Warzone 1, as the Kilo 141 offered competitive damage, solid range, and minimal recoil. This was the reliable go-to gun for many players.
CR-56 AMAX
Introduced in Modern Warfare 2019, the CR-56 AMAX became a popular choice for those wanting to really deal some damage. If you could control the gun’s recoil, this was one of the hardest-hitting assault rifles in Warzone 1. This was a solid choice for medium-to-long range fights.
FFAR 1
Introduced in Black Ops Cold War, the FFAR 1 assault rifle became a popular pick for aggressive Warzone players. The FFAR 1 did have a bit of recoil and awful iron sights, but the gun boasted such an impressive fire rate that it felt more like using an SMG at range. This was a really powerful assault rifle once you learned to control the recoil.
OTs 9
Introduced in Black Ops Cold War, the OTs 9 was one of the most popular submachine choices for Warzone. The OTs 9 was an easy-to-use submachine gun with clean iron sights and very little recoil. It was also a highly-mobile gun, making it a great pick if you were an aggressive player looking to run-and-gun.
MAC-10
Introduced in Black Ops Cold War, the MAC-10 was a highly mobile and aggressive submachine gun. The MAC-10 had high damage, a fast rate of fire, and it could be equipped with a large drum magazine. It was great for close-quarter combat and could also serve as a solid sniper support weapon.
HDR
Introduced in Modern Warfare 2019, the HDR sniper rifle was a top choice for long-range fights. Sniping was really popular on Verdansk, and the bolt-action HDR was the best pick if you were looking to post up on a rooftop in Downtown Verdansk or hold long ranges of sight across Farmland.
Swiss K31
Introduced in Black Ops Cold War, the Swiss K31 quickly gained popularity for being an aggressive sniper rifle perfect for quick-scoping. Unlike the heavy HDR sniper, the Swiss K31 was light and very mobile, making it perfect if you like to snipe on the move.
The Kar98k marksman rifle is often the most talked about “sniper” from the Verdansk era of Warzone. Thankfully, Modern Warfare 3’s version of the rifle is currently available in Warzone, and it’s a really good sniper to use even in the Black Ops 6 era. Adding the Swiss K31 makes much more sense, as this would give more variety for the aggressive snipers.
Stoner 63
Introduced in Black Ops Cold War, the Stoner 63 was one of the few light machine guns to gain popularity in battle royale. This powerful light machine gun was perfect for long-range combat and gave you a lot of bullets, but it also edged out the other LMGs by having really low recoil and slightly better mobility.
AMP 63
Introduced in Black Ops Cold War, the AMP 63 was a great addition to Warzone because this machine pistol allowed you to pack a lot of fire power into a secondary class. This pistol could be great as a single gun or you could absolutely shred your opponents with the akimbo build. Either way, the AMP 63 felt like having a small submachine gun as your secondary without having to waste one of your perks on Overkill. It was great as sniper support or paired with an assault rifle or LMG.
